La recensione su The Hero - Una vita da eroe

di mck
7 stelle

This is the Sea. And this is the beach. “My death was the whole reason for that show, man”. E questa è la risacca. One more, Lee.

Com'è che si dice? “Potrebbe recitare anche solo l'elenco telefonico e...”: ecco.

“Lonestar Barbecue Sauce: the perfect partner for your chicken.”
“Can you just run it a few more times, Lee?”
“Lonestar Barbecue Sauce: the perfect partner for your chicken. Lonestar Barbecue Sauce: the perfect partner for your chicken. Lonestar Barbecue Sauce: the perfect partner for your chicken. You got it?”
“Can you do one more?”
“You want something different?”
“Just do one more.”
“Lonestar Barbecue Sauce: the perfect partner for your chicken. Yeah?”
“Can you do one more?”
“Lonestar Barbecue Sauce...”

Controcant'opposto:

the Hero” di Brett Haley (“the New Year”, “I'll See You in My Dreams”, e il prossimo “Hearts Beat Loud” con Nick Offerman e Toni Collette) è un film [scritto dal regista - che ha curato anche il montaggio - col sodale Marc Basch; fotografia: Rob Givens; musiche: Keegan DeWitt (“I'll See You in My Dreams”, "Listen Up Philip", "Queen of Earth", "Golden Exits", "Bokeh")] che s'inserisce - tra una poesia di Edna St. Vicent Millay e un Buster Keaton che s'ingegna in un corpo a corpo con/in “the General” - nella lunga teoria di pellicole narranti delle lunghe ombre che tendono all'infinito, dal meriggiare pallido e assorto dei 60 passati (o quasi) al calar della sera sino alla notte infinita della terza cifra [in ordine sparso, pescando nel bacino degli ultimi - più o meno, all'incirca - 40 anni: the Straight Story (Richard Farnsworth - Harry Dean Stanton - David Lynch), “Falstaff / Campanadas a Medianoche” (Orson Welles), “the Old Man and the Sea” / “the Last Hurrah” (Spencer Tracy - John Sturges / John Ford), “the Shootist” (John Wayne - James Stewart - Don Siegel), “the Whale of August” (Lillian Gish - Bette Davis - Lindsay Anderson), “Unforgiven”-“Space Cowboys”-“Blood Work”-“Million Dollar Baby”-“Gran Torino” (Clint Eastwood & C.), “Affliction” (James Coburn - Paul Schrader), “About Schmidt” (Jack Nicholson - Alexander Payne), “Nebraska” (Bruce Dern - Alexander Payne), “Nobody's Fool” / “Road to Perdition” (Paul Newman - Robert Benton / Sam Mendes), “the Human Stain” (Anthony Hopkins – Philip Roth), “All is Lost” (Robert Redford), “Open Range” [Robert Duvall (anche “We Own the Night” di J.Gray) - Kevin Costner], “Youth” (Michael Caine / Harvey Keitel), “Don't Come Knocking”- “Mud”- “Cold in July” - “In Dubious Battle” (Sam Shepard), “Crazy Heart” - “Hell or High Water” (Jeff Bridges), “the Wrestler” (Mickey Rourke), “the Royal Tenenbaums” (Gene Hackman - Wes Anderson), “Up” (Pete Docter), “Amour” (Jean-Louis Trintignant - Emmanuelle Riva - Michael Haneke), “Lucky” (Harry Dean Stanton), etc…, etc…].

Laura Prepon (“That '70s Show”, “Orange is the New Black”) e Krysten Ritter ("Margaret", “Breaking Bad”, "Listen Up Philip", “Don't Trust the B---- in Apartment 23”), corvine, sono un amore.

Nick Offerman (“Parks and Recreation”) è Nick Offerman (“Fargo-2”).

This is the Sea. And this is the beach.

“My death was the whole reason for that show, man”. E questa è la risacca.

“Lonestar Barbecue Sauce: the perfect partner for your chicken.”
“That was great, Lee. Can you do one more?”

* * * ¼ (½) - 6 ½ (7)
